I don't get America

This controversy makes me feel (for the first time in a while) either like a new immigrant to the US or the Europeans (I guess I am one now :) who, while sharing the language, can't understand Americans. I don't get why Lebron James controversy is so big. Like - who cares. So he signed with another team and left his hometown. I can see how the citizens of Cleveland are upset - but why does anybody else care? To me this is pretty strange.
But that's what being part of a cultural mileu is all about - because you experience a particular phenomenon (ie news about LBJ) on a regular basis, it becomes normal. That's why Zadornov humor was so popular - he would point out things about Russia that everybody was used to, but upon further reflection appeared completely surreal. His conclusion was, of course, that Americans are too stupid to deal with all these Soviet issues - but the truth is that it's the host country that is probably weird.
More on tap: Bitter LeBron beer back in ClevelandLEVELAND -- A Cleveland brewery is re-releasing a bitter beer inspired by LeBron James' decision to leave the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.JamesJamesGreat Lakes Brewing Co. says 30 gallons of "Quitness" ale sold out in three hours Wednesday at the company's downtown brewpub. The beer will return Saturday on a first-come, first-serve basis. The brewery says "Quitness" is a dry hopped India pale ale that leaves a bitter aftertaste, perfectly describing the mood of Cleveland sports fans these days. After seven seasons and no championships in Cleveland, James, the NBA's two-time reigning MVP, announced last week he was joining stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.
